All I can say about Bonnie oaks is wow! The location and buildings are beautiful. You get such a relaxing feeling being outside! The place is so open and spacious as well. We stayed in the carpenters cabin and the interior style is clean and old style. Very homey! Highly recommend this for a weekend get away!

Absolutely stunning property and home. The entire space is peaceful, tranquil and cozy. This airbnb is a gem and Kate and her family were wonderful hosts- very responsive and helpful. This property is one of the most beautiful places we had stayed at. We wish we could’ve stayed longer to explore the property- we will definitely be back!

My husband and I stayed in the Carpenter’s Cottage, it was gorgeous! The perfect combo of cozy and functional. The woodwork was beautiful, there were books, games, tv and work desk available. The charm was complimented perfectly by the modern features. The kitchen was stocked extremely well with dishes and small appliances. It was clear the owners respected the history while they were putting some modern touches into the cottage. The property was snow covered beauty, we can’t wait to stay again and explore more.
The cottage had the aforementioned kitchen with coffee pot, refrigerator, dishes, silverware and toaster with complementary coffee, bottled water and condiments. The bedroom was huge, king size bed, dresser, nightstands and well stocked with blankets and pillows. Living area has the desk, tv, tables and games to play with books on the area’s history and local wildlife, even a pair of binoculars to watch some of it. The owners were extremely kind and helpful. Highly recommend!!

The decorative iron gate with leaves & acorns welcomed us with open arms as we drove to the Carpenter’s Cottage. As I opened the Cottage door the light was shining in with a carpet of leaves seen through all the windows to the great outdoors. Nature’s beauty surrounded me indoors too with the original pine floor in the living room & fir in the bedroom. Unique vases with cedar sprigs in the bedroom enhanced the atmosphere with a vintage trunk at the foot of the bed. Nooks & crannies had collections of books, games & cards with a chess set ready for play. Each item of decor was thoughtfully placed to enrich the Cottage. A “Winter in Wisconsin” painting captured my interest as the environment historically was a retreat for artists, writers & musicians at one time. Surrounded by creativity & reflection amongst the quiet beauty I felt inspired. The binoculars hanging on a hook were beckoning me to explore outdoors. I viewed the waxing crescent moon among the impressive shadows of the trees at night. I was awestruck in the great outdoors as I listened to the sounds of nature, hearing an owl & a unique viewing of a flying squirrel leap from a limb to another branch. A view of the spectacular sunrise early morning enhanced my day with prehistoric vocalizations by the Sandhill Cranes. There were over a hundred cranes in multiple flocks flying over the meadow & across Neenah Creek. I knew this is where I belonged to explore the vintage charm of the incredible restoration & preservation of the Carpenter’s Cottage & Bonnie Oaks Historic District.

Bonnie Oaks is truly a special place. The atmosphere is peaceful and beautiful, with so much history surrounding the property. The location is perfect—close to the Dells and nearby towns, but it still feels quiet and tucked away in nature. The cabin we stayed at was incredibly comfortable and thoughtfully updated while still keeping their historic charm. It’s the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit. We were also able to use the kayaks to go out exploring on the Neenah creek as well as explore the trails on the property. 10/10 experience!

Only 17 miles from the Wisconsin Dells, this place feels nothing short of magical!
As you enter the property, you’ll punch in a code at the gate and follow a short drive that immediately sparks curiosity. The first thing to greet you is a striking, unusual three-story tower that sets the tone for what’s to come. Further along sits a charming white-clad home, its metal roof dotted with several chimneys. Even from the car, you’ll catch glimpses of additional historic buildings—each one full of character from a bygone era—and beyond them, the beautiful river that truly anchors the entire setting.
The property owners were incredibly kind and welcoming, meeting us upon arrival, giving us a thoughtful tour, and guiding us to our accommodations, the Log House. Like the other buildings on the property, it’s a vintage home rich with charm both inside and out. The decor is tastefully done with period-appropriate touches, while still offering modern comforts like an updated kitchen and bathroom. And the king bed? Absolutely dreamy—like sleeping on a cloud.
If you’re craving a stay that’s unique, memorable, and soul-refreshing, book the Log House or the Carpenter’s Cabin at Bonnie Oaks Historic District!

The beauty of the landscape to the historic elements of the buildings and structures are amazing. One of my favorite features on this property is the carriage house! Starting with passing through the front gates, you instantly feel as though the property is whispering to you. if you listen it tells a story! Love it!

I read the stories in the binder on the front table. Coming from a family of musicians/artists and trying to find my way as a writer myself, the land has a story to tell. Beautiful and wonderful. I do, genuinely look forward to watching you all grow and am so happy to watch the revolution of the rebirth. History is important, no matter the scope. I loved seeing you and your sweet family keep the beautiful side of history alive!!

We had such a lovely stay at this house! Kate was such a welcoming host who took the time to show us around the historic buildings on the property and answer all our questions. She even tracked down some local eggs for me! Lovely walks and stargazing out on the Meadow, and her family was so sweet and friendly. A hidden gem for sure!
